This is all basic back-ground investigation, which would've been included in the FBI's vetting if the allegations were known at the time Kavanaugh was nominated. They are that serious that they would not have been ignored, and the results would've cleared him or sunk his nomination. The investigation could possibly exonerate Kavanaugh and result in criminal prosecution of Ford. Why refuse to do the investigation now, before a vote to confirm is taken?
A few experienced background investigators can get this done in a couple of weeks. Cons insisted that 8 months before an election was too short a period of time to even discuss a SCOTUS appointment a couple of years ago, refusing to even discuss Merrick Garland. It's less than two months now before an election, but cons want to rush this through...why?
delta....you're a good guy, I respect your opinion, and am generally glad to hear your analysis....but I don't find much there to concede....
I don't consider anything highlighted to be material to Ford's claim.
Six investigations completed on background already. IF there were any sort of investigation now, it'd better be absolutely, directly material to Ford's allegations. ...couple of weeks???? Question Ford, Kavanaugh, Judge on day 1....what do you need the other 13 days for?
No doubt, there's some that would like to 'rush this through'. Honestly, I don't see it that way. I see it as not being played by dems and a shifty lawyer....I really don't care if FBI asked to 'investigate'....I am simply 99.9% certain that it couldn't possibly uncover anything factual. I disagree that there's a possibility of evidentiary anything
If I were call NBC and allege that Kavanaugh was responsible for some random, mysterious death in 1994, would you stop everything and demand an FBI investigation because he happened to be in the same town around that time? Silly? Of course....but much different than what he's facing right now?
