What is holding you back from the Travel Nurse angle? Probably don’t love being away from your boy and the comforts of home, but sure does check a lot of boxes
I tried to do it when I had a camper. Guy I worked with when I first started did/does it and we crossed paths. He lives in his camper for the 3 month contracts. The housing stipend more than covers the campsite. He still does it, but takes 2 3mo contracts per year now.
I talked to a couple recruiters, I talked to several travelers. I'm not a friendly person, so new things like that aren't easy for me but they're offering 2-3x the pay, and insurance, and living stipend. I was ready to go, then I told the wife. I even offered to take them along. (This was before the boy was in school)
Wife said if I did she'd leave and make sure she got any of the extra money I'd make traveling.
That was several years ago. I ended up doing local "travel" dialysis nurse. I went to 9 hospitals in the area for inpatient dialysis runs. They paid a lot more, no home base to really get additional bullchit added to my plate. But ultimately the on-call killed me.
