Had a real nice birthday dinner for my wife last night at one of her most favorite restaurants- Colombia in Celebration, FL
She had such a great day. Friday, she got a call from a past employer from like 10 years ago. His office manager gave notice. He wanted to see if she wasb all on the same day- her birthday!!! Yesterday, he interviewed her, had his recruiter interview her later on, then called again to formally discuss salary and benefits and to hire her. She used to just manage his front desk. Now, she's going to manage 20+ employees and a chit-ton more, just to start. 44% increase in base salary plus office performance bonuses plus great benefits. What an UNBELEIVEABLE day for her!!!
Getting our eyes tested today so I can buy new glasses before my wife leaves her current job's vision insurance plan. We are all going to max out on our annual benefit today, including free glasses, so as not to lose out when the coverage ends in 30 or so days.
Now, I got to figure out the COBRA thing vs. Obama Care for the time until she is eligible for health insurance new job. 8rack explained it here once a few years ago, but I can not find it and the rules may have changed..
^^^ Brother 8-Track where art though? Hey Robert, not to be a potstirrer but your wife has great leverage and getting “just” a 44% increase seems on the low side. I get that there are bonuses and benefits too but they need her, she doesn’t need them (…or so it seems…). Plus, her job responsibilities have significantly increased. Personally, I would, if it’s not too late, counteroffer and ask for a more substantial base pay increase. Factoring in the length of time since her employment there, inflation, etc., anywhere from 75 to 80% increase wouldn’t be out of the question. As a friend used to always tell me, “You don’t ask, you don’t get.”
