Beautiful day in the neighborhood. 54/83

Happy Friday workers of the world. Three cups in and out for a 5 miler. Gym later and pool maintenance is all that is on the agenda. Pretty sure a couple of fine habanos can be consumed.

Are they paying you for the difference in gas money for the nearly 4 weeks you have to wait?

So we are doing both bathrooms in sequence.

Master bath is under construction first and is frozen waiting on plumbing and electrical inspections. Inspectors cancelled on the day of inspection and it has sat for two weeks now.

Just waiting on the government.

12mpg is crazy, unless your gas pedal only has two positions... UP and DOWN.

I mean, it's a 4cyl, it's hard to NOT get good mileage.

My old Dakota I drove like the throttle was an on/off switch. Still averaged 14mpg with 250k on the clock. I beat that truck as hard as I could and it kept on coming back for more. Blew out the rear end doing a clutch dump burnout/drift. Replaced the rear axle with a junkyard automatic rear (3.90 to a 3.30 rear and lost the ability to do smokey burnouts) and it kept going until the frame rusted through and cracked in half.

New truck has been pretty consistent no matter how I drive, or if I tow, or what I tow. Solid 9.8mpg all the time. If I'm straight highway unloaded it'll creep up to 12-13. Even with a 7klb camper I'm high 9's. Open trailer with a car I can do 10.5 highway.

That's right about the time we moved into ours. Can't remember the exact year. Now Mrs. Beach is talking about a new one. Think it's all part of her plot to keep me from retiring before I'm 95.

Good Saturday Morning! It's a clear 46° on the way to °66 today, unfortunately, wind is also in the forecast. The wind is going to make shooting a little more complicated at our rimfire benchrest match today.

Backsplash selected. Now we wait. Destruction was to start "in April", Now a darker penciled date of "mid May".
They said it is behind another remod they are working on. Some guy is getting two bathrooms done in the Palo Alto area.
There may be further delays as all of the sub contractors are driving Jeeps.

I'm 98.2% sure I'm screwed.

I sure could go for a 89.2% chance of getting screwed today.

Snow on the ground, but not cold enough to freeze the mud.

Went to go feed/water the chickens in my regular shoes. Had to turn back and put my knee high rubber boots on walking ankle deep in muck.

Got a family thing this afternoon so wife asked me to make a couple dips. Made habanero pico and a smoked salmon cream cheese dip.

I think a nap on the couch is next.

Danm! Cooper in my neighborhood and didn't stop by.

Out early this morning for a hike in the preserve. Wild flower season in the desert and the snakes are getting amorous.

Bought my place in December of 1999 while it was still under construction. Moved in May of 2000.

Other than finishing the back yard with a covered patio, redoing bathroom flooring and replacing the HVAC system and water heater... still all original.

At the point where I either start remodeling (which I do not want to do... at all) or pulling up stakes and finding another new construction pad in another state.

Wife says, "I want a 1 story with 4 BR's". I'm on board with that. Now to find something we'll both like... in an area not California.

Edit: Forgot I upgraded the kitchen counters from tile/porcelain to granite/stainless.

Pork butt is on the smoker. Instead of making my normal rub I’m using something out of Texas called “Sucklebusters”. It’s big and loud.

Rain is supposed to arrive at 8pm. They say biggest storm of 2022 for us. We will prolly get 1/4 inch of rain.

I enjoy remodeling. Kinda. Used to do it for work but it don't pay.

Brother in law said he wanted to finish his basement. I got super excited for a big project I don't have to pay for. But then he told me he's hiring the whole thing out. $100k.... i could do it for 30.

Time is money and obviously your BIL has much more money than time.

Unless he hires a bad contractor, he’ll probably would get the basement done faster than if he hired you. Still, $70K is a lotta money. I woulda hired you and then put on my puka-puka shorts and t-shirt and help with the work.
